STRICTLY OFFLINE & ZERO TELEMETRY

Privacy Policy for Lockout

Effective Date: October 3, 2026  |  Developer: Edudriven  |  Contact: iamtonystark88@gmail.com

Core Privacy Principle: Lockout has zero internet access permissions declared in its Android Manifest. It does not collect, track, transmit, or share any personal, device, or biometric information.

1. Information Collection and Use

Lockout does not collect or store any information:

2. Zero Internet Permission

The permission android.permission.INTERNET is completely omitted from the application. Because Android enforces permission-based sandboxing, Lockout is technically incapable of sending any data over the internet.

3. Permissions Explained: Core vs. Completely Optional

Lockout operates under the principle of least privilege. Most permissions are entirely optional and are only requested if you explicitly choose to enable supplementary features like the on-screen floating button. If you use Lockout exclusively via the 1x1 Home Screen Widget, the Quick Settings Tile, or the App Shortcut, secondary permissions are never requested, never prompted, and never active.

Permission is completely omitted. App cannot transmit data or contact remote servers.

A. Device Administrator (BIND_DEVICE_ADMIN) — CORE SYSTEM PERMISSION

Requires strictly the <force-lock /> policy. This allows the app to invoke DevicePolicyManager.lockNow(), which locks the screen and activates Android's strong biometric lockout (requiring PIN/Pattern/Password on next unlock). It cannot erase data, cannot monitor unlocks, and cannot alter your device passwords. You may revoke this permission at any time in Android Settings.

B. Accessibility Service (BIND_ACCESSIBILITY_SERVICE) — STRICTLY OPTIONAL

Used solely to detect physical volume key press sequences (such as Double-press Volume Down, Volume Down → Volume Up) while the device is in use, enabling discreet emergency biometric lockdown without looking at the screen.

Strict Privacy Safeguards & Zero Content Access:

You can toggle off the Physical Key Shortcut at any time inside Lockout, or disable the service under Android Settings > Accessibility > Downloaded Apps > Lockout Hardware Shortcut.

C. Display Over Other Apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) — STRICTLY OPTIONAL

Used strictly to display the optional on-screen floating lock button if enabled in settings. If you use the home screen widget, Quick Settings tile, or physical volume buttons, this permission is never prompted or used.

D. Foreground Service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE) — STRICTLY OPTIONAL

Ensures the floating button remains active and responsive without being terminated by system battery savers. If the floating button is turned off, this service does not run and uses 0 background resources.

E. Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) — STRICTLY OPTIONAL

Required by Android 13+ to display the ongoing service notification while the floating button is active. Lockout sends zero promotional or remote push notifications.

4. Local Preferences

All settings (selected animations, typography styles, gradient colors, button opacity) are stored solely on your device via standard private SharedPreferences.

5. Uninstallation and Revocation

You can revoke Device Admin access at any time under Settings > Security > Device Admin Apps or directly inside Lockout. Once revoked, the app can be uninstalled immediately.
